The next stage of ground investigation work on the A9 Dualling project is due to begin on Monday, 11 December.
Work on the Dalraddy to Slochd section will last for 11 days and finish up for the festive break on Friday, 22 December.
The contractor will then recommence investigations on Monday, 08 January with completion set for the end of March 2018.
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: "This further ground investigation work is needed to get important information on the existing ground conditions in the vicinity of the A9 carriageway between Glen Garry and Crubenmore and Dalraddy and Slochd.
"We apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause and would thank road users and local communities in advance for their patience during the works. The contractor will closely monitor the operation of the traffic management measures to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum."
