Contractors are continuing work to repair a dangerous building in Kelso, Scottish Borders.

Roxburgh Street was closed to traffic in September following the discovery of the privately-owned dangerous building, which the council said had the potential to cause significant damage.

Pedestrian access was restored on 06 October after the removal of a dangerous chimney from the building. However, the route is still shut to traffic due to the dangerous gable wall on the same building.

Work is now underway to rebuild the gable wall and on 27 October, contractors estimated it will take six weeks at least until repairs were completed and Roxburgh Street could reopen.

With a section of the scaffolding being removed today, 10 November, a structural engineer will visit the site next week and decide if the building is stable enough to allow further scaffolding to be removed and vehicles to return to the road.
