Resurfacing work is to begin on the M8 motorway in Renfrewshire.

Repairs will started on a 1.3km section of the route, the M8 Eastbound Renfrew Road to Arkleston, from 8pm on Monday, 13 November.

Once finished, works will switch to the M8 Westbound Arkleston to Renfrew Road and completion is scheduled for Saturday, 25 November.

The scheme is part of Transport Scotland's £1.5 million autumn investment programme for the motorway.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ's Principal Road Design Engineer said: "This is a significant project that has required careful planning and close collaboration with Police Scotland, local authorities and key stakeholders such as Glasgow Airport and intu Braehead. The depth and scale of the projects are such that we need to extend the duration of traffic management beyond our normal overnight operation.

"Working with our stakeholders, we have been able to identify the traffic management system that will have the lowest possible impact on commuters, businesses and tourists alike. This is an important stretch of the M8, Scotland's busiest road, and we have worked hard to minimise the disruption to motorists whilst ensuring we can complete around £1.5million of autumn works as safely and efficiently as possible."
