West Lothian Council Welcomes New Apprentices

West Lothian Council has taken on 40 new apprentices for its 2017 Modern Apprentice training programme.

The new recruits will work across a range of service areas, including electrical, joinery, roofing, plastering, plumbing, painting and horticulture. Further opportunities are available for roles in IT, financial management and facilities management.

In addition, other apprentices will work within the region's schools and nurseries thanks to a new partnership with Education Services.

Chief Executive Graham Hope said: "behalf of West Lothian Council I would like to welcome all 40 of our new modern apprentices. This scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for young people in West Lothian to gain valuable training and skills to help them in their future careers."

Cllr Cathy Muldoon added: "West Lothian Council is working in partnership with employability services, Access2employment and the Skills Training programme in order to improve youth employment rates within West Lothian and develop a skilled workforce for the future."
