Work is continuing on a £5 million water mains upgrade project in Dundee.

To continue the scheme, Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) will start carrying out additional work in the Blackness Road area of the city from Monday, 09 October.

The two-week phase will involve lining an additional two sections of water mains in Blackness Road, between Rosefield Street and Ure Street. There will also be mains replacement work at the junction of Glenagnes Road. Traffic management will be in place.

Gavin Steel from Scottish Water said: "We understand the frustration of local residents and businesses that this additional work is required in an area that has already seen significant disruption due to our work.  

"We sincerely apologise for this, but we have identified that this extra phase is essential to ensure that we are successful in securing a clean, fresh drinking water supply for our customers long into the future. 

"There will be no road closure required for any part of this further work in the Blackness Road area; and the temporary traffic lights in place will be manned throughout peak times every day to ensure traffic can flow.

"Scottish Water and our alliance partner CWA would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding as these essential works are carried out in the coming weeks."
