Hurricane Energy has secured approval to launch its Early Production System (EPS) at a major oil field in the Atlantic Ocean.
The company discovered the Lancaster field earlier this year west of Shetland, off the north coast of Scotland.
With approval now granted by regulators, the company's Chief Executive Robert Trice said first oil is targeted for delivery in the first half of 2019.
"The Lancaster EPS is not only an essential step in planning for the full field development of the Company's Rona Ridge assets, but also represents a substantial development in its own right, with planned production of 17,000 barrels of oil per day," he said.
