Construction News Image
More than £1.6 million has been awarded to Argyll and Bute Council to carry out energy efficiency projects across the region.

The £1,669,978 grant from the Scottish Government's Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland: Area Based Scheme (HEEPS: ABS) will help residents make energy efficiency improvements to their properties such as external/internal wall insulation, underfloor insulation, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation.

The programme is available to owner occupiers and private rented householders living in council tax bands A to C, and band D if their income is less than £20,000.

The HEEPS: ABS contributes towards the Scottish Government's target of alleviating fuel poverty; reducing greenhouse gas emission by 42% by 2020; and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. In addition, it contributes towards the Local Housing Strategy's aim to improve the overall quality and condition of housing.

Cllr Robin Currie said: "These grants are a wonderful opportunity for people to make their homes warmer and in turn save money on energy costs.

"The scheme will have a long lasting benefit for households across Argyll and Bute, helping to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emission, and I would urge people to make the most of this opportunity and sign up while they can."
