A £221,000 building regeneration project is underway in Argyll and Bute.

The tenement building at 9-15 Longrow South is being repaired by contractor McKinven and Colville as part of the Campbeltown Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS).

The project will secure 16 jobs and the future of two homes, as well as bringing an empty dwelling house back into use.

Features include repairs to the building's roof, leadwork, chimneys, stonework, cast iron rainwater goods, timber and rot works. Costs will be met from grants made available by the council, Historic Environment Scotland as well as significant contributions from the owners.

Pippa Milne, the council's Director of Development and Infrastructure Services said: "As a council we are determined to improve our towns and make them attractive places to live and work. The ambitious regeneration work we have already carried out has made our town centres across the area vibrant places, created jobs and boosted the local economy.

"Campbeltown has seen over £7 million of work being carried and over 40 historically important buildings have been regenerated, with new businesses being opened and existing ones being secured."

The project is scheduled for completion by September.
