Work is to begin later this month on two road improvement schemes in Peebles.

Resurfacing will start on High Street from Monday, 17 April until Friday, 21 April. Further works will take place in Eastgate from Sunday, 23 April to Thursday, 27 April.

In addition, a bus build-out area will be introduced on the High Street outside The County Hotel.

The works are part of a £135,000 investment in the Tweeddale area.

A spokesperson for the council said: "We are aware these road improvement works will cause some disruption to local people.

"However, the Council has tried to alleviate this by carrying out the resurfacing in evenings and putting in place a number of other measures, including advanced warning signs to advise local people of the works and diversions.

"Residents and businesses are thanked in advanced for their patience and co-operation during the works, which will result in both roads being greatly improved for drivers and pedestrians."
