Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) is continuing work to install a £24 million strategic water main in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire.
The 7.3 mile-long water main will operate from south of Drybridge, near Dreghorn, to the west of Eglinton Country Park and benefit 85,000 people in Irvine, Kilwinning, Stevenston, Dreghorn, Drybridge and parts of Saltcoats.
The plastic water main will replace an existing concrete main and the use of more robust materials will make the new main less susceptible to bursts. In addition, the rote of the new main will improve accessibility for Scottish Water to undertake maintenance work and, should the need arise, any repair work.
As part of the scheme, the southbound lane of the A738 Stevenston Road will be closed at its junction with Castlehill Road near the fire station, while temporary three-way traffic lights will also be installed.
The two-week period of road traffic management is due to begin on 30 March, continuing until 13 April.
The project is expected to be completed by this autumn.
