Work is to begin next month on a new £9 million office block at Shawfield.

Clyde Gateway has signed a contract with Robertson Construction to commence building the Red Tree Shawfield development in April.

The four-storey scheme will become the first building at Magenta, the new business district launched last year by Clyde Gateway in partnership with Highbridge Properties PLC.

Features will include a conference room, meeting rooms, break-out spaces, kitchen areas and café, along with a 70-space car park. It will be located at the junction of Shawfield Drive and Glasgow Road, immediately adjacent to the walkway that links to the SMART bridge across to Dalmarnock Station.

The building is scheduled to be ready for occupancy by summer 2018.

Ian Manson, Chief Executive of Clyde Gateway, said: "Our Red Tree brand has been very successful with two office blocks at Rutherglen and Bridgeton operating at full capacity.
