Work has started on a £70,000 roads improvement project in Fife.

The council is improving road safety at four locations on the A917 between Upper Largo and Crail.

The schemes include:

• Drumeldrie - speed reduction measures

• The Elie junction and bend west of Colinsburgh - improved signing

• At sets of bends between Anstruther and Crail - surfacing, lining and signing

In addition, carriageway resurfacing will be carried out at the double bends east of Bankhead Farm, where a full road closure will be needed.

As part of the project, the A917 between Anstruther and Crail will be closed from 7am on Saturday 04, March until 7pm on Sunday, 05 March. Diversions will be in place.

Cllr John Wincott said: "We maintain over 2,400 km of roads in Fife and we are spending nearly £8 million this year repairing and improving them.

"Our road network is vital to support economic development, inward investment, tourism, leisure and travel to work. Almost everyone in Fife uses our roads on a daily basis, which is why this type of maintenance work is so essential."
