Work Continues On £18.8m Renfrewshire School

Work is continuing on a new £18.8 million school in Renfrewshire.

The new Riverbrae School in Linwood is on schedule to open in August.

The purpose-built facility will replace Clippens and Kersland Schools as well as Hollybush Pre-Five Centre. It will offer accessibility for pupils with physical or sensory difficulties, along with better access to sports facilities and IT equipment.

The project has been jointly funded by the council (£10.1m) and the Scottish Futures Trust (£8.7m).

Councillor Jacqueline Henry, Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Education Policy Board, recently visited the new facility along with Councillor Maureen Sharkey, the Board's Depute Convener.

Cllr Henry said: "There's still a bit of work to complete, including the fitting out of the classrooms.

"You can clearly see the potential in the facilities, backed by the knowledge and commitment of the staff that will maximise the potential of all the young people that will learn here."

Cllr Sharkey added: "It was very encouraging to see the final phase of this an ambitious and innovative project which will make a lasting difference to the lives of the young people and their parents.

"This council has prioritised investing in education and boosting opportunity for all and Riverbrae is an outstanding example of that."
