Newlay Civil Engineering is to deliver a £165,000 cycle path project in Fife.

The scheme will see a shared-use path created on Carnegie Avenue in Dunfermline.

The project is joint-funded by Fife Council and Sustrans through the Community Links programme. It will connect the Duloch, Masterton and Pitreavie Castle areas to the recently completed route between Dunfermline and Rosyth (A823).

Councillor John Wincott said: "Fife Council has been at the forefront of encouraging people to cycle for over 20 years. We have over 350 miles of cycle paths, many 20mph residential zones. We encourage people to cycle more because it is not only healthy, but it is also good for the environment.

"This new cycle path will connect many areas in the east and south of Dunfermline and hopefully this will encourage residents to get on their bikes and reap the rewards of a healthier lifestyle."

The project will take seven weeks to complete.
