A joint venture (JV) between Amey and Black & Veatch (aBV) is to begin a £1.3 million sewer upgrade project in Edinburgh.

The six-month scheme will be carried out at over 40 different locations across the city. Work is to begin in Cotlands Avenue, Longniddry on Friday,27 January.

Further works will also start this weekend at Broomhouse Row, Longstone Street and Redhall Drive. The project involves some traffic disruption while work is underway, however this will vary depending on the location and nature of the works.

Bill Elliot, Scottish Water Regional Communities Manager for Edinburgh said: "This essential £1.3 million upgrade will involve localised repairs and full length re-lining of sewers at various sites across the city on a rolling programme.

"The duration of work at individual sites will vary depending on the type and complexity of the job. Some parts will take between one day and a week, while some will take several weeks with the longest phase being 7 weeks. We will be issuing regular updates about the ongoing work as it rolls out across the City."
