Work has began on the second phase of a £640,000 traffic signal upgrade project in South Lanarkshire.
The scheme aims to improve traffic flow through Hamilton town centre. Improvements will be carried out at the following locations;
• Brandon Street/Leechlee Road (pedestrian crossings)
• Leechlee Road/Lamb Street
• Leechlee Road/Chapel Street
• Leechlee Road/Cadzow Street (pedestrian crossing)
During the final element of the works, which are expected to take place in March, temporary lights will be in place to allow the removal of the old signals.
Cllr Chris Thompson said: "Whilst the council understands the inevitable inconvenience that these essential works could cause, we will make every effort to complete them as quickly as is practical.
"We would urge all road-users to allow additional time for any journeys that involve town centre roads during this time, and plan their routes accordingly."
