Work on a new £1 million nursery in West Lothian is now complete.
The modern extension at East Calder Primary School was delivered by the council's Construction Services team, in conjunction with David Narro Associates, EDP Consulting Engineers, Brownriggs, Thomson Gray and builders JB Bennett (Contracts).
Features include new pedestrian routes and a new entrance for parents, cloakroom area and improved disabled access.
The single-storey building is around 400sq m in size, and includes decorative rainbow coloured panels at the entrance canopy.
The previous standalone nursery building will be demolished in 2017, and the playground area extended to give more play space for the children.
Depute Provost Dave King said: "I was privileged to attend the opening of the previous nursery building over 20 years ago, so I'm delighted to open the new modern nursery, which is a huge improvement to the facilities at East Calder Primary.
"The brand new hi-tech modern nursery will be a huge benefit to the East Calder community, ensuring that our youngest pupils start their education journey in the best possible environment."
