BAM Nuttall is to begin a railway bridge replacement project next year in West Lothian.
The contractor will work alongside Network Rail to demolish and replace the structure on the A71 road next to West Calder station on 05 January.
The 16-week scheme will see the bridge levelled and rebuilt as part of wider work on the Shotts line ahead of the electrification of the route by 2019.
Community drop-in events are being held this week to allow local people to view plans for the project.
The events will take place on:
• Polbeth Village Hall, Polbeth, 4pm – 7pm on Wednesday, 14 December.
• West Calder Community Centre, West Calder, 4pm – 7pm on Thursday, 15 December.
Iain McFarlane, Network Rail's head of programme management for the Shotts Line Electrification, said: "Delivering this work in just 16 weeks is a huge logistical challenge, but we have planned carefully with our contractors BAM Nuttall and have every confidence in the project team's ability to complete this work with the minimum possible inconvenience."
