£3m Regeneration Fund To Boost Regional Projects

Argyll and Bute Council is to boost a number of improvement projects throughout the region with a £3 million regeneration fund.

The 11 schemes were shortlisted following the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands Area Committee meeting on Wednesday, 07 December.

The successful schemes are:

• Improvements to the Barmore Road and Garvel Road junction (Tarbert)

• Pavement and public realm improvements (Tarbert)

• Indoor bowling facility and sports hub (Tarbert)

• Improvements to harbour facilities (Tarbert)

• Front Green improvements (Lochgliphead)

• Improvements to Argyll Street (Lochgilphead)

• Redevelopment of Mid Argyll Community Pool (Lochgilphead)

• Improvements to north public realm (Adrishaig)

• Improvements to south public realm (Ardrishaig)

• Redevelopment of Gleaner oil site (Ardrishaig).

Cllr Aileen Morton said: "The Tarbert and Lochgilphead Regeneration Fund offers an important opportunity to support community-led proposals which can help regenerate the Mid Argyll area and provide economic opportunities for the population.

"As a council we are determined to deliver initiatives that will create jobs, grow the population of the area, help boost our local economy and sustain already prosperous communities. The projects taken forward will be selected as they fulfil the essential criteria and help deliver the council’s objectives."
