Plans Revealed For Glasgow Home Energy Efficiency Projects

Glasgow City Council has revealed plans to invest over £5 million in three home energy efficiency programmes.

More than £4.3m will be allocated for home energy efficiency programmes (HEEPS-ABS) such as installing external wall insulation and a hybrid insulation to both internal and external walls in areas such as Haghill, Dennistoun, Riddrie, Priesthill, Milton and Greenfield.

In addition, the Scottish Energy Efficiency Programme (SEEP) will receive £620,400 for schemes such as wall insulation on pre-1919 tenements; upgraded insulation and building fabric, as well as a new heating system for Linthaugh Nursery in Rosshall. Further projects include connecting the future Dalmarnock Nursery School to the energy centre at the Athletes' Village; and the installation of wall insulation and a heating upgrade at the Greater Easterhouse Supporting Hands centre.

A final £340,000 fund is being made available to five Glasgow housing associations to meet the Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing (EESSH). The associations are; Maryhill (central heating replacement for 20 homes); Cassiltoun (window replacement for 10 homes); Thenue (external wall insulation for 19 homes); Govan (boiler replacement for 16 homes); and Elderpark (external wall insulation for 15 homes).

Council Leader Frank McAveety said: "These programmes deliver real and lasting social and economic benefits to many people across Glasgow, saving money on fuel bills, bringing warmer homes, and cutting emissions."
