Muir Homes has completed the latest phase of a council housing development in Fife.

The housebuilder has developed 22 new homes in Cellatdyke as part of the Silverdykes scheme, bringing the total number of properties at the site to 57.

The project is being delivered as part of the council's Affordable Housing Programme, which aims to build 2,700 new homes by 2017.

Tenants have now started moving into the new units, which are energy efficient and have features to meet specific needs of householders.

Cllr Judy Hamilton said: "This is a lovely housing estate and it's great to be back today to see it growing further to deliver more much needed affordable housing in the North East Fife area.

"As with the rest of the programme, these new homes will be warmer, drier, healthier homes and suitable for the needs of their tenants. We are allocating them to existing tenants which means that, in turn, we can free up their previous homes for other people and families to benefit from.

"Our Fife-wide Affordable Housing Programme, that will build 2,700 new homes by 2017, is gathering pace with more than half of the homes already built and occupied."
