Amey and Black and Veatch (aBV) are to begin a sewer network upgrade project in Angus.
As Scottish Water's alliance partner, the joint venture will start replacing an existing sewer pipe along West John Street in Arbroath on Monday, 31 October.
The two-phase scheme will last around 18 weeks and involves a series of road closures.
The first stage will take around eight weeks, breaking for the Christmas period, and involves:
• The closure of Hume Street at the junction with West John Street & Orchard Street (access only from Burnside Drive to Lindsay Street but no through road
• Closure of West John Street with access only from Catherine Street
• No access through Orchard Street from Wellgate as Hume Street and West John Street will be closed.
Work will re-start on 09 January and is expected to last 10 weeks. Traffic management includes:
• The closure of West John Street (access part of West John Street from Orchard Street and Hume Street but no through road).
• The closure of West John Street (access part of West John Street from Catherine Street but no through road).
Ruaridh MacGregor, Communities Manager at Scottish Water, said the scheme represents a significant investment in the town's waste water network.
"While the project will see some disruption for locals, we will take every measure to ensure we minimise any inconvenience as the works progress over the coming weeks."
