Construction News Image
A total of 16 new 'affordable' homes have been unveiled in the Scottish Borders.

The projects were unveiled by Councillor Frances Renton and former Eildon Housing Chief Executive, Peter Lee, in Denholm on Friday, 21 October.

The first scheme, 'Croft Field Court', was built for Bridge Homes by contractor Cruden Homes and features eight two-bedroom houses.

A further eight homes were developed by Eildon Housing Association at Jedward Terrace and Selby Close. The scheme includes a series of two- and three-bedroomed homes as well as a wheelchair accessible bungalow.

The Croft Field Court homes were delivered under the council's and Scottish Futures Trust's 'affordable' housing investment programme.

Cllr Frances Renton said: "I am delighted that our programme to develop and purchase homes for mid-market rent is continuing to help Borderers across the region.

"All eight homes were let very quickly after being completed, and through this programme we are committed to delivering more affordable homes throughout the Scottish Borders, on top of the 31 already unveiled in Ayton, Galashiels, Peebles and now Denholm."

Trevor Burrows, Chairman of Eildon Housing Association, added: "This latest development demonstrates our on-going commitment to provide much needed quality affordable homes across the Scottish Borders and represents a £1.2m investment in Denholm.

"We are grateful for the grant funding received from the Scottish Government and the strategic support provided by SBC."
