Morrison Construction Completes £16m Flood Prevention Scheme

Morrison Construction has completed a £16 million flood alleviation project in Angus.

The Brechin Flood Prevention Scheme will provide a one-in-200 years current-day standard of defence for properties in the town.

Features include direct defences, flood embankments, flood walls, upgrades to the existing surface water drainage system, work on the Denburn Culvert and installation of three submerged pump stations.

In addition, new road surfaces and footways have been built including new lighting/seating areas and environmental enhancements.

Morrison has also delivered landscaped and grassed embankments, the installation of bird and bat boxes, and upgrades to the play park facilities at the Inch.

A plaque unveiling ceremony was held today, 07 October, to mark the occasion. The ceremony was attended by Councillor Jeanette Gaul, Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham, Morrison's Managing Director Jim Steele and Angus Deputy Lieutenant Hugh Campbell Adamson.
