SSE is continuing work to develop a new £4 million visitor centre at Pitlochry Dam in Perthshire.

Work on the attraction and 60-seat café began last year. The facility is on schedule to open at the end of January 2017.

Features of the centre will include an exhibition outlining the history of hydro electricity as well as a multi purpose room which can be used as either an education centre or conference facility. The café will also include a covered outside seating area.

SSE Head of Heritage, Gillian O'Reilly, said: "We are excited the Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre will welcome its first visitors early next year. The construction phase of the project has progressed smoothly and it's great to see the building take shape. It will be a major tourist and economic boost for Pitlochry and the surrounding area."
