Peterhead Port Authority has appointed the contractor, along with its joint venture (JV) partner Boskalis Westminster, to carry out the Peterhead Scheme 2.
The 18-month scheme involves strengthening and deepening the port, including land reclamation with revetment, widening of the harbour entrance, demolition works and improved services throughout. The existing quay walls will be realigned while an increased draft will facilitate larger vessels. Plans are also in place to relocate the existing fish market to the North Harbour.

Dredged material created by the development will be recycled to create a reclamation area over 400,000 sq ft for future development.
McL&H has worked alongside designers RPS Consulting Engineers to utilise an RD steel piling solution for the development. Developed in Scandinavia, the solution will be the first of its kind to be used in the UK.
Construction works will create over 100 full-time jobs and once completed, the development will support 2,500 jobs and generate £800 million for the economy.
