New figures have revealed communities across Perthshire, Tayside, Forth Valley and Fife are benefitting from over £500 million worth of infrastructure projects by hub East Central Scotland.

Last year, the organisation supported 13,000 jobs, with over 5,000 which were for local residents.

In addition, £140m of infrastructure including new schools, social housing projects, health and care facilities are now open, while £142m of projects are currently under construction. A further £208m is still in development.

Around 49% of new project work is being undertaken by local business', while last year the hub has doubled its targeted employment and skills outcomes in the region.

Ian Mullen, Chairman, hub East Central Scotland, said this year has been a record for delivering new community infrastructure projects.

"That forward momentum will continue with over £200 million of projects in development, many of which will break ground this year," he said.

"We continue to work closely with our public sector Participants to support and enable new projects that will bring significant long term benefits to communities across the regions.

"With half of our construction projects being awarded to SME's we are protecting and sustaining thousands of local jobs."
