The contractor has reached the highest point on the buildings refurbishment and work is due to be completed by the end of 2017.
Designed by Hoskins Architects, the project aims to increase the number of art galleries from 11 to 21 as well as establishing a new exhibition space. In addition, two new education spaces will be built for learners of all ages, while a new rooftop gallery will be created with roof terraces.

City council leaders and Provost Geroge Adam visited the site on Friday, 23 September to mark the construction milestone and view progress on the development, which has been part funded by a £10m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
Council leader Jenny Laing said: "As we reach this construction milestone we are one step closer to realising our vision for the development and in creating a place where Aberdonians of all ages, can come to see fantastic exhibitions, enjoy lively year-round events programmes and explore the remarkable works of art in our care."
HLF's Manager for Scotland, Lucy Casot, added: "Today marks a major milestone as we begin to see for ourselves Aberdeen's vision of a world-class cultural centre take shape."
