Graham Construction has started work on a £28 million school campus scheme in Dumfries and Galloway.
The North West Campus Project will bring together secondary, primary, nursery and special needs pupils under one roof as part of the Dumfries Learning Town programme.
It is being delivered under a Design and Build Project Agreement.
Graham Construction was appointed by Hub South West (HubSW) as the Tier 1 Main Contractor for the project.
The development will include:
• New build primary and secondary campus
• Co-located bespoke Langlands School block with hydrotherapy pool
• New build sports facilities that serve both the school and Maxwelltown Community Sports Hub
• External sport pitches/facilities including an all-weather synthetic Rugby pitch, suitable for both competition level rugby and football including spectator areas and dugouts; and a grass pitch
• Vehicle parking, playground areas, individual external social and curricular spaces and landscaped areas to suit nursery, primary, secondary and Langlands pupils.
Contracts to begin the project were signed last week and completion is scheduled for June 2018.
Council Leader Ronnie Nicholson said: "Providing the best start in life for all our children is a priority for our Council which is why our Administration is investing over £50m into our schools in Dumfries and offer the very best educational opportunities to our young people in state of the art facilities.
"The signing of this contract means we can start works on site at the school. I am pleased that things can now start to happen on the ground and good to see progress with the Dumfries Learning Town project."
