CCG is continuing with work on a £12 million project for blind and partially sighted people in Paisley.

Mhairi Black MP took part in a ground-breaking ceremony at the Hawkhead Road scheme to mark the start of construction on Friday, 01 July.

The development aims to create a new 54-bed care home, along with an activity and support centre, for visually impaired veterans in south-east Paisley.

The project is being delivered for Royal Blind and its sister charity Scottish War Blinded.

Speaking at the event, Mhairi Black MP said: "I am very pleased to have been invited to become involved with this great project right at the start. The Royal Blind Jenny's Well Care Home, and the Scottish War Blinded Hawkhead Centre are going to have a huge impact on the lives of so many people in and around Renfrewshire."

Alastair Wylie, Chairman and CEO of CCG (Scotland), added: "CCG has extensive experience in the health and care sectors – the Hawkhead Road project was a natural fit for the business in that respect, and we are proud to be working with Scottish War Blinded and Royal Blind on what is a truly unique offering for the elderly and veterans of central Scotland."

The development is expected to be completed in 2017.
