Cala Homes has completed work on a £1.7 million housing development in Newtown Mearns, East Renfrewshire.
The 14 new homes on the Ayr Road were developed for the Link Group Ltd and the Scottish Government invested over £500,000 in the project.
This is the first development within East Renfrewshire Council that includes properties for mid market rent (MMR). MMR's are higher than social rents, but lower than the equivalent private market rate. They are aimed at households who have low to moderate incomes and would like to rent a property with the flexibility of a Short Assured Tenancy.
Link is also currently onsite at Barcapel where a further 33 homes for social rent will be available from March 2017.
Link's Director of Development and Asset Management, Colin Culross, said: "We are delighted to have been supported by the Scottish Government and the East Renfrewshire Council to enable us to build these new, high quality affordable homes. By introducing MMR into this development, Link is able to offer a greater choice and flexibility of tenure and help meet the Council’s housing demand.”
