CCG has began building a new £3 million community hub in East Dunbartonshire.

The Bearsden Community Hub is being developed by hub West Scotland (hWS).

Designed by architectural firm Anderson, Bell & Christie, the project will include the re-provisioning of the library and community archives from Brookwood as well as enhancing the current hall facilities through a full refurbishment.

In addition, the facility will bring together council, library, leisure and cultural services in a single building along with new public meeting rooms and social work facilities, new public toilets as well as an entire upgrade of the current accommodation.

Work on the new hub is due to be completed by 2017.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie said: "This is a great milestone for Bearsden and will see major investment in the town centre by the Council.

"The new Community Hub will provide everyone in Bearsden with a state-of-the-art facility they will be proud of and will bring a number of benefits to the town."

Calum Murray, Director of CCG, added: "We look forward to continuing our already successful partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council in constructing the new Bearsden Community Hub. This is the second project that CCG has commenced for the Council this year and one that we are proud to deliver for the people of Bearsden."
