West Dunbartonshire Council has approved plans for a new £1.15 million community centre and nursery in Dalmonach.
The previous facility in Bonhill was forced to close following serious damage to its roof in January.
Detailed proposals for the new centre will now be presented to the council's infrastructure, regeneration and economic development committee following consultation with key stakeholders.
Council Leader Martin Rooney said: "The current centre was well used by a number of groups and also provided additional space for the nursery.
"So once this new facility is built not only will it provide first-class accommodation for various community groups but is also going to create bespoke nursery space which will help to improve the life chances of our children and young people. I look forward to seeing the plans being developed and moving forward with this project."
