A consultation is underway discussing a new draft Strategic Development Framework (SDF) for South Cumbernauld.
The initiative will set out how the regions Community Growth Area (CGA) will be developed, with housing, community facilities and infrastructure.
In addition, a new Environmental Report is being discussed which will assess the potential environmental impact of the SDF's approach.
The CGA was identified in 2006 as one of three areas where new housing and community facilities could be built to meet increasing demand in North Lanarkshire.
Up to 2,000 new homes with supporting local facilities could be built in the area by 2025.
The consultation is being held with community groups, residents, businesses and other interested parties to form the final SDF document.
It will run for eight weeks until 24 May.
