Ground investigations are due to begin for the A96 Dualling programme between Inverness and Nairn, it has been announced.
The works will start on 21 March and last for around 20 weeks.
While most of the scheme will be carried out offline of the existing road, some traffic management will be put in place to allow work on the carriageway.
A spokesperson for Transport Scotland said: "These ground investigations are needed to get vital information on the existing A96 carriageway between Inverness and Nairn as we progress our plans to dual this section of the route.
"The contractor will closely monitor the operation of the traffic management to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum."
