Construction firm Robertson Tayside has started work on a £28.7 million school development in Dundee.
Dundee City Council has allocated £10.6 million funding and Scottish Futures Trust is providing £18.1 million.
The school, to replace Baldragon Academy, is expected to be ready for its first intake of pupils in early 2018. It will form part of an educational campus for the area which will include the new primary and nursery, which is expected to open in October this year.
Councillor Guild said: "Schools are an important component of our commitment to improve our communities and the replacement for Baldragon Academy will provide state of the art facilities to meet the opportunities and challenges that our pupils will face in the years ahead.
"This is yet another major enhancement of learning and teaching facilities across the city."
The project is being led by hub East Central Scotland in partnership with Dundee Council, Scottish Futures Trust and Robertson Tayside.
