Local communities are being encouraged to apply for a community grant scheme in the Scottish Borders.

Awards of up to £5,000 are available for community groups to support projects which:

• Improve access to local activities/services

• Improve the environment

• Increase pride in communities

• Improve access to advice and information.

Councillor Jim Brown said: "Community grants are available for local community groups who are keen to come together and make a difference in their local area.

"Whether you want to have an event, refurbish a building or derelict piece of ground or simply buy equipment to help groups in your area to thrive, funding could be available to help you make your project a reality."
