Two schools in Dundee are set to receive almost £500,000 of investment, it has been announced.

The city development committee will meet on Monday, 22 February to decide if councillors want to back the move.

Tenders have been received to replace windows and cladding at St John's High School and Mill O'Mains Primary School.

A total of £352,234 will be set aside to replace curtain walling to south elevation of Iona block, as well as renewing associated fascia, soffits and rainwater downpipes.

In addition, £113,778 will be spent on renewing windows, doors and cladding at various elevations of the infants block during the Easter break.

The works will be carried out by the council's constructions services division.

Cllr Will Dawson said: "It is vital that we continue to provide the best possible environment for teaching and learning in the city.

"The council is responsible for the care and maintenance of dozens of schools and while a number have been replaced with brand new ones in recent years we must also make sure that existing buildings are well maintained."
