Scottish Water is underway with network improvement works in the Western Isles, it has been announced.
The ageing water mains sections are being replaced with new polyethylene pipes by Calmax Construction in Flesherin and Aird.
In addition, local contractor MacAulay Askernish is replacing the existing undersea pipe at Bagh Chornaig in Vatersay.
This project is expected to last three months, while works by Calmex are estimated to take around four months to finish.
Diane Burgess, Regional Communities Manager for the Western Isles, said: "This significant investment will be a welcome improvement for the local communities involved."
