A community engagement day detailing the regeneration of a Glasgow housing estate is due to take place in the city next week.

The Sighthill Regeneration project is the largest of eight Transformational Regeneration Areas in Glasgow.

Plans include creating a new pedestrian bridge over the M8 along with a vehicular bridge to provide a link to the north east of Glasgow.

Almost 800 new homes will be built as well as a community campus, a replacement facility for existing nursery and primary schools, and sports and community facilities.


The informational event is to be hosted by Transforming Communities Glasgow - a partnership between Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Housing Association and the Scottish Government.

Councillor George Redmond said: "This event will give an update on the latest news from the regeneration of Sighthill and how to participate in and develop a fantastic community project.

"This work will deliver a transformed Sighthill, an attractive area with new housing and facilities, including a community campus - all set in more and improved greenspace and with better connections to the surrounding areas."

The event will run between 4 – 7pm at the KATS centre in Sighthill on Wednesday, 03 February.
