The Highland Council has allocated £25,000 for community groups in Nairn.

The 'Nurturing Nairnshire' fund can be used in grants of £200 or £2,500 for community projects either big or small.

The money has been set aside from the local Ward Discretionary budget to let locals decide which projects are needed in their area.

Councillor Laurie Fraser said: "This is a chance for the local community to make decisions about how funds are allocated at a local level, by empowering the community to make decisions on projects that are most important to the local area."

The council added that the funding can be used for new projects or go towards the biggest schemes and ideas.
