Morrison Construction has been selected to deliver a new £12 million primary school in Aberdeenshire.
Work to replace the existing Markethill Primary School in Turriff is expected to begin in February 2016.
The new school will be located on Meadowbank Road and will provide space for up to 505 primary pupils.
Features of the project include 18 classrooms, two general purpose rooms, a library, an additional needs provision, and a larger nursery facility.
In addition, a gym with two courts and changing rooms will be created, as well as a dining hall, a kitchen, offices and staff areas.
Councillor Alison Evison: "The new primary school will increase the capacity and improve on the existing facilities in Turriff and is a key part of the council’s school estate capital plan.
"I am sure parents will welcome the news that a contractor has been appointed and work can now progress on facilities in which young people can flourish and which the wider community can enjoy too."
Regional Director of Morrison Construction Mike Bruce added: "We are delighted to have secured the construction of Markethill Primary School for Aberdeenshire Council, the people of Turriff and the surrounding area."
The new school is expected to be complete by August 2017.
