The Scottish Government is to call-in plans for a £140 million film and television studio in Midlothian, it has been announced.
In a dramatic U-turn, ministers have reversed their original decision not to consider the proposals.
Previously, developer PSL Land asked for ministers to examine its proposals due to Midlothian Council failing to decide on the campus within its allocated time frame.
The Scottish Government then rejected this plea, ruling the plans not to be of 'national significance'.
However, in an apparent change of heart, the Directorate of Planning and Environmental Appeals will now rule on the application.
The facility, designed by architectural practice Keppie, would be located on 86-acres of soon-to-be delisted greenfield land west of the A701 at Straithon.
It would be Scotland's first purpose-built film studio facility including six sound stages, backlots, a film school and a hotel.
It is understood if approved, the development could be operational by Autumn 2017.
