West Dunbartonshire is due to receive a homes and jobs boost as Wheatley Group announced its five-year plan for the region.

The Group will invest millions of pounds in the area as a result of its housing partnership with the council.

The strategy includes building 400 affordable homes, creating up to 600 new jobs/training places and investing £2.6 million in existing homes.

In addition, a new Cube Housing Association office is to open in Dumbarton town centre.

Councillor David McBride said: "It is extremely pleasing to see the Wheatley Group set out its strategy for delivering new housing throughout West Dunbartonshire over the next five years. 

"Since the strategic partnership was launched last year, almost 100 homes have already been built in the area and there are advanced plans in place for many more."

Wheatley Chief Executive, Martin Armstrong, added: "We are delighted to be working as a strategic partner, with West Dunbartonshire Council to deliver hundreds of new, fuel-efficient homes. 

"This ambitious new-build programme will increase the supply of much-needed affordable housing and create and secure hundreds of jobs and training opportunities. 

"Importantly, it will be complemented by significant investment in hundreds of existing homes that will help to sustain and improve communities local people are proud to live in."
