Large-scale rail improvement works are underway in West Lothian, it has been announced.
Network Rail is carrying out the £5 billion Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP) on behalf of Transport Scotland to improve the country's rail network.
Communities affected by the EGIP include Murieston in Livingston, Philpstoun, Addiebrownhill in Addiewell, and Breich.
The works, which include raising a number of rail bridges, is set to continue in the region until autumn 2016.
Councillor Cathy Muldoon said: "The impact of Transport Scotland's rail electrification programme will affect road travellers in a number of West Lothian communities.
"We have written to Transport Scotland and Network Rail to ask for their support to mitigate the impact of the road closures on West Lothian's communities while this essential work is ongoing."
