Temporary Bridge To Be Installed On AWPR/B-T Project

Construction News Image
A new temporary bridge is to be installed across the A96 this weekend, Transport Scotland has announced.

The structure will be erected between Dyce Drive roundabout and Kirkhill Forest in an effort traffic moving during construction works on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie-Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) project.

To allow the temporary bridge pier to be built within the central reserve, overnight traffic restrictions will be in place between 8pm and 6am over the 26 and 27 November.

An AWPR/B-T project spokesperson said: "Our construction works are now well underway but we want to make sure that these are done by causing as little disruption as possible.

"As the A96 is an extremely busy local and commuter road, a number of options were considered before a decision was taken to install a temporary bridge over the road.

"This means that construction traffic will have uninterrupted access to the site over the A96 with minimal disruption to the local community and commuters."

Between 6am on 28 November and 6am on 30 November, a contraflow will operate on the A96 eastbound and westbound carriageways, allowing the contractor to lift and place the structure over the A96.

Further traffic management and local diversions will be in place.
