Work Underway On New Care Home In Dumbarton

Work is underway on a new multi-million care home and day centre in Dumbarton, it has been announced.

Councillor Gail Casey cut the first sod on Tuesday, 24 November.

The former Crosslet House Building on the development site has been demolished and scheme is now due to be completed in early 2017.

The council's development partner, hub West Scotland, is taking the project forward while the main contractor is Morgan Sindall.

Once completed, the new facility will provide accommodation for 84 residents and up to 50 day care centre users.

Councillor Patrick McGlinchey said: "This new facility will play a crucial role in improving the care of the older people in our community whilst also promoting their independence.

"The communal courtyards which will be created will also let residents enjoy outdoor activities in a safe and accessible environment.

"The Crosslet House site has been unused for some time, so I’m looking forward to it being given a new lease of life."

The council is investing £22m into building two new care homes for West Dunbartonshire.
