A planning application has been lodged for a new school in East Dunbartonshire.

The new primary school will be built on the site of the existing St Flannan's Primary School in Kirkintilloch.

In addition, it will replace St Agatha's and St Flannan's primaries.

The council submitted the application via architect Archial Norr.

The project is part of the council's Primary School Improvement Programme.

Gordon Currie, Director of Education & Children's Services said, "Over the last year widespread consultation with pupils, parents, school staff and the local community has been carried out and the feedback has helped shape the final design for the new primary school.

"The design is based on the national reference design that was created for the newly opened Lairdsland Primary School in Kirkintilloch."

The council's planning service will now consider the application over the coming weeks, before referring to the Planning Board for a decision.
