Proposals to build a £180m Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Scotland have moved forward, it has been announced.
Councillors in Moray have joined with Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council to build the plant in Aberdeen.
After 2020, new regulations will place a ban on organic waste going to landfill.
This therefore leaves Moray no option but to find an alternative to sending its non-recyclable waste to the council's landfill site at Nether Dallachy.
It is understood Moray Council would contribute £25m towards the project.
