Student Accommodation Project Approved

Approval has been granted for a student accommodation development in Aberdeen, it has been announced.

The 221-room facility, designed by Michael Laird Architects (MLA), will be developed by Crucible Alba at the site of McConechey's Garage on Willowbank Road.

The development will include 44 flats across four storeys including a cafe, a games room and a 'breakout' facility.

A courtyard along with cycle spaces and parking for 25 cars will also be created.

MLA said the design will "help to complete the streetscape of the junction at Willowbank Road and Hardgate, whilst also addressing issues relating to the site's integration to existing housing on Union Glen to the north."

Work is due to begin in 2016.
